The World Ends With You Anime Is Having Screening Event In March-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 10:28 PM

The previously announced SquareEnix The World Ends With You anime series adaptation, based on the popular video game franchise of the same name that debuted in 2007, will be having an advanced screening of Episode 1 of the anime series, revealed via the show's Twitter account.

On Sunday March 14th, at 5:30 PM JST / 12:30 AM PT / 4:30 AM ET (It's Daylight Savings Time day), you'll be able to take part in the world premiere of the show or watch the first episode and talk to the cast. Tickets range from JP¥ 2,200 ($20 USD) to JP¥ 18,700 ($175) depending on the package, which you can pick out now.

The series is expected to premiere April 9. For this "world premiere" event, according to the anime's official website, fans will have the opportunity to purchase "limited edition merchandise" like a custom skateboard deck as well as watch a "live talk session with the main cast."

Back in February, the same account also tweeted that this upcoming event would be available to fans globally, feature an art exhibition, and also offer a preview of the first episode of the series, which is titled The World Ends With You: The Animation.

For those unfamiliar with the original Nintendo DS video game--which has been ported to several other consoles, including the Nintendo Switch in 2018 with The World Ends With You: Final Remix--the game takes place in a fictional version of the famous Shibuya shopping district in Tokyo. While everyday life goes on in the Realground, the chosen dead are brought to an alternate plane of existence called the Underground. Over the course of three weeks, it's up to a group of friends to understand what exactly is happening and also solve a murder mystery.

In addition to the anime in April, a sequel called NEO: The World Ends with You has been announced for release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch for mid-2021.
