The Wonderful 101 Remastered is coming to the US on May 19, to Europe on May 22, and Japan on June 11. In preparation for release, developer Platinum Games has put out a new trailer showing off the remastered game in action.
The new trailer is loaded with the color-coordinated action and updated graphics, showing off just how good it looks on modern systems. The remastered version makes a number of other tweaks and changes to modernize it for current-gen consoles. Those include a revised user interface--since the original game on the Wii U used its dual-screen functionality--refined controls for each platform, and some game rebalancing.

Now Playing: The Wonderful 101: Remastered - Release Date Trailer
Platinum Games turned to Kickstarter for the Wonderful 101, ending its crowdfunding campaign at $2.2 million. Producer Atushi Inaba said that the campaign was mostly about gauging fan interest, and the more than 30,000 backers supplied that as well as a nice chunk of seed money.
The Wonderful 101 was originally released on Wii U in 2013, and focused on taking control of a hundred heroes at once to combine their strength into powerful weapons.
"With The Wonderful 101, game director Hideki Kamiya has made a game featuring a stumpy posse of cartoon heroes, with the stylish combo strings of Bayonetta, and the bouncy, vibrant style of Viewtiful Joe," Martin Gaston wrote in GameSpot's review. "This is an ambitious, funny, and inventive game that's keen to impress but slightly scrappy in its presentation, packed with ideas but is slightly confused about how to express all its abundant creativity. This might not be the Wii U's killer app, but it's a much-needed shot in the arm."
