It was heavily rumored, but like any rumor, we had good reason to assume it was nonsense. The chief reason there was, of course, the logistics of it all. But it seems that, somehow, The Witcher 3 has been ported to the Nintendo Switch.
It may be the impossible port, but that hasn't stopped the crazy people at CD Projekt Red from trying. We have only seen a tiny sliver of The Witcher 3 running on Nintendo Switch so far, and frankly, it looks low resolution, and low detail.
However, if the coding wizards at CD Projekt can get the game running, even with a sub-par standard of fidelity, it will be a monstrous task, and incredibly impressive.
This follows listings on Chinese retail websites that included The Witcher 3 on Switch, though of course, many thought these could simply be a mistake, despite how the boxart including in the listings looked. From now on, it's probably pretty safe to trust these sources, as in this case, the rumor was absolutely correct.
But we have to question what the game experience will be like. The Witcher 3 launched on Xbox One and PS4 running very well, but a little bit below-par at times. If that was the experience on far more powerful systems, it leaves us concerned about how the Nintendo Switch version could turn out, especially in the console's portable mode.
Despite that though, the promise of The Witcher 3 on the go is very, well, promising.
