This past weekend at PAX West, Telltale revealed first footage from The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 2, “Suffer the Children,” and it’s pretty heavy stuff. No action or flesh-tearing zombies here, just a conversation between Clementine and AJ. Following the events of The Final Season’s first episode, and all the horrors that came before, it seems poor AJ is having a particularly tough time. That said, the scene also provides a glint of hope and tenderness. Will Clementine and AJ make it through The Final Season intact? I hope so, although a happy ending seems far from certain. Check out the footage, below.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season shines the spotlight back on Clementine, now around 16, and her adopted charge AJ, who are rescued and taken in by a group of teens who have set up in an abandoned boarding school. At first the school seems like a welcome refuge, but, of course, there’s more going on there than meets the eye. I found The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 to be an effective return to form for Telltale (check out the full review here) and eagerly look forward to the next chapter…
“The debut episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season is one of Telltale Games’ best efforts in quite some time. It builds its cast of likeable new characters with uncommon skill, lets you feel a glimmer of hope, and then tears it all down in devastating fashion. I’m afraid of what might come next for Clementine and AJ, but I can’t look away…The Final Season has already sunk its teeth into me.”
All four episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be released before the end of 2018. Here’s the full schedule:
