Apr 13, 2025 9:15 AM

The reboot of The Twilight Zone has been canceled. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the reimagining of the classic sci-fi anthology show will not return for Season 3.

The first two seasons of The Twilight Zone, which were executively produced and hosted by Jordan Peele, screened on ViacomCBS's streaming platform CBS All-Access. However, the show was not included in this week's launch of Paramount+, the company's rebranding and expansion of CBS All-Access.

Now Playing: The Terrifying Reality Behind The Twilight Zone

THR states that the decision to end The Twilight Zone was due to Peele and co-producer Simon Kinberg's plans to leave the series, and that ViacomCBS wanted it to continue. However, the show will not proceed without them.

In a statement, Paramount+ head of programming Julie McNamara said, "Jordan Peele, Simon Kinberg, and the entire production team truly reimagined The Twilight Zone for the modern age. They upheld the classic series' legacy of socially conscious storytelling and pushed today's viewers to explore all new dimensions of thought-provoking and topical themes that we hope will resonate with audiences for years to come."

The Twilight Zone Season 1 premiered in 2019, with Season 2 following in 2020. The original show originally ran from 1959 to 1964, and had been revived twice before, in the 1980s and early 2000s. Twilight Zone: The Movie was also released in 1983.

This week's Paramount+ announcement revealed the studio's plans for a number of new shows based on classic TV and movie properties. These include new versions of Flashdance, Fatal Attraction, The Parallax View, Love Story, and The Italian Job.
