The Tetris Movie Finds A Home At Apple
The Tetris Movie Finds A Home At Apple-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 9:19 AM

After many of us have spent countless hours T-spinning our ways to victory in Tetris 99, a few of us probably wondered a little about the game's origins--aside from "It came from Russia when it was called the USSR." Well, the feature film adaptation of that story is in the works, and now, the movie has a home.

The Tetris origins movie will land at Apple, according to The Hollywood Reporter. At the time of this writing, it is unknown as to when the film will debut, but the movie is now set to shoot in Scotland.

The film will follow the creation of the iconic game by Alexey Pajitnov the final years of the USSR. Jon S. Baird (Stan & Ollie) will direct the script written by Noah Pink (Genius), and the movie will be produced by Matthew Vaughn's Marv.

Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) will star as Henk Rogers, the video game entrepreneur who distributed the game after securing global rights. No other casting announcements have been made at this time.

Tetris isn't the game getting the movie treatment. There's still a Monopoly movie in the works, which Kevin Hart will star in. However, there hasn't been any new info about it since January 2019. Additionally, Netflix is producing multiple Assassin's Creed TV shows, including a live-action one.
