According to Deadline, the animated film earned $26.5 million at the box office on Thursday, totaling $58.2 million domestic sales from the movie's first two days in theaters. Adding in international numbers, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has earned $120.7 million so far.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was expected to have a big launch, as reported by Deadline, estimated to earn $225 million or more for its first (extended) weekend--Wednesday to Sunday--in theaters. Domestic expectations sat at $125 million--something The Super Mario Bros. Movie looks on track to achieve.
