Digital Tome has set a launch date of April 27 for Siege of Avalon, a game that is being billed as "the industry's first RPG Episodic Computer Game Novel." The company claims that through a new proprietary technology, the game will feature hundreds of diverse characters, providing a far greater variety than is usually found in RPGs.
According to Digital Tome, the game is also unique in that it will be delivered in "chapters" to the player's computer over the Internet. The first chapter will be available for free on a CD-ROM included in an upcoming issue of Computer Gaming World, or it can be downloaded from the game's web site. Interested gamers can register for the free chapter prior to the April 27 release date. More chapters will be available for download for US$9.95 and will include an additional 20 hours of playing time.
Digital Tome's first complete novel, Pillars of Avalon, is scheduled for release at the end of the year.
