Rigs are special equipment that can significantly help you in The Outlast Trials. You unlock them when you reach level 2 and can purchase them from Cornelius Noakes, the Engineer, inside the Murkoff Facility. Four types of Rigs, Stun, Blind, Heal, and X-Ray, are available in the game, but you can only equip one at a time when playing. They can be further upgraded to get additional perks that will give you some valuable boosts during trials.
Given that you can’t use all Rigs during a match but must stick with one, you may be undecided about the best to equip. You can learn more about them in this guide.
The Heal Rig has several upgrades that further enhance its effects. You purchase them with green Vouchers, and the price for each is listed under their menu at the Engineer workshop. The Detox upgrade, in particular, is quite helpful once unlocked, as the healing gas will also cure psychosis. In addition, Poison will activate another special effect. With this, the healing gas will slow foes down for a brief time.
If you don’t hit any enemy by throwing the device, the cooldown of the Stun Rig will instantly be reduced with Restore. Electric Boost is another interesting upgrade because, with this, all your teammates within the radius of the blast will completely recharge batteries and stamina. The Prepared upgrade, instead, ensures the Rig is ready to use at the start of the trial.
The X-Ray Rig also has interesting upgrades to unlock. Resources Intel is indeed one of the best because it reveals the exact position of any consumable item near you. Moreover, Classified Intel highlights the location of sensitive objects near you. Battery Transfer, instead, recharges the battery of the Night Vision device when using this Rig.
The Blind Rig has some cool upgrades. With Recharge, the landmine you have placed on the ground will be armed again after an enemy triggers it. Frenzy, instead, lets you benefit from an adrenaline boost if you walk through the smoke generated by the explosion.
