It might have started with a terrible pun, but May 4 is now one of the biggest dates on any Star Wars fans' calendar. This year's Star Wars Day will be marked by the release of a new behind-the-scenes documentary series about the hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian.
Titled Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, Episode 1 of the series will premiere on Disney+ worldwide on Monday, May 4. It's an 8-part show, and subsequent episodes will be released on Friday each week. The series will be hosted by The Mandalorian's showrunner Jon Favreau, and each episode will focus on a different aspect of the series using interviews and production footage.

In a statement, Favreau said, "Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1. We had a great experience making the show and we're looking forward to sharing it with you."

The Mandalorian is the first ever live-action Star Wars show, and Season 1 premiered on the Disney+ launch day in November. Season 2 has already wrapped production and is expected to hit the streaming service in the fall.
There is also an Obi-Wan Kenobi show in development, with Ewan McGregor set to reprise his role from the Star Wars prequel movies. In January, it was revealed that the series had been put on hold while scripts were rewritten, and earlier this month, it was reported the series had found a new writer.
