The first season of The Last of Us TV show by HBO has only just ended, and fans of the franchise are already hungering for the second season, which will take a while to release, according to Bella Ramsay, the actress who plays Ellie in the show.
Speaking with the Independent, Bella Ramsey confirmed it will be a while before season 2 launches. She revealed that they are likely to start shooting at the end of this year or the beginning of the next, so the second season will likely come between the end of 2024 and early 2025.
While The Last of Us season 2 details are obviously scarce at the moment, it seems like we will see more of the Infected in the show's new season. Speaking during the final podcast for season 1, showrunner Craig Mazin talked about them, saying that the next season will explore more of how their hive mind works and how dangerous it is. This is definitely promising, considering how the Infected were so little featured in the first season.
Now that the adaptation of the first entry in the series has been wrapped up, The Last of Us season 2 will cover the events of the much bigger second entry in the series. Due to the bigger size of the game, the second season of the successful show will only adapt a portion of its entire story, as confirmed by Neil Druckmann last week. Showrunner Craig Mazin also confirmed how some things will be different while other things will be identical.
To make the wait for the second season of the show more bearable, fans of the series will soon be able to enjoy the first entry in the franchise like they never could before later this month, as The Last of Us Part I launches on PC launches next week, on March 28th, worldwide.
