Unlike Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil IV Remake, and Dead Space Remake, which managed to stay on the top-selling list on Steam for several days and weeks, the PC port of The Last of Us Part I only managed to sit in the top-selling spot during its launch day. It can no longer be seen on the Steam list. Currently, the game has retained its "Mostly Negative" rating on Steam as users continue to issue negative reviews against the game due to their poor experiences.

People who have bought and played the game have reported several issues with The Last of Us PC port. Some users crash at the menu, some before the game even start, and some just randomly crash during various points in gameplay. What's worse is the fact that this issue is happening with high frequency. Moreover, users who manage to get into the game must face various game-breaking bugs and artifacts, and the list goes on. Gamers have also reported long shader compilation times and stutters even after it compiles the shaders to 100%.

While the patch issued by Naughty Dog on PC today has fixed a few issues with The Last of Us Part I's PC port, the development team still has to address problems like the increased wait for loading shaders, instability problems, a memory leak issue, and concerns regarding boot issues as well as mouse and camera jitter for players depending on their hardware and display settings. Still, Naughty Dog will continue to update players should new fixes arrive.
