The Last of Us Part 1 First Person Mod Receives New Gameplay Video
The Last of Us Part 1 First Person Mod Receives New Gameplay Video-October 2024
Oct 16, 2024 8:18 AM

The upcoming The Last of Us Part 1 First Person mod has received a new gameplay video showing off immersive combat.

Earlier this year, we reported on this work-in-progress first-person mod for the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1. Fast forward a couple of months, and we now have a new 8-minute-long gameplay video of the latest version of this mod in action, courtesy of YouTuber Voyagers Revenge. The video is pretty impressive and makes Naughty Dog's game even more immersive in first-person mode. "We're thrown into the world of The Last of Us, up close and personal", the creator of the video writes. "The game is in a better state for PC now with no sudden updates delaying any creative projects. Expect more soon!"

Unfortunately, as we already mentioned earlier, there's no ETA on whether this mod will be released. In addition, as mentioned by the creator of this video, the mod is not yet ready for the more recent versions of the game on PC. It should be noted that Voyagers Revenge wrote this a few days ago, and as covered earlier today, Naughty Dog has now released yet another patch for the game on PC.

Whether this mod will ever be released publically remains to be seen. Nonetheless, we're pretty sure that fans will appreciate this new gameplay video of the mod in action. An unedited and uncensored version of the video can be found on the creator's Patreon page here.

The Last of Us Part 1 is available globally now for PC and PlayStation 5. Of course, the 'regular' remastered version of The Last of Us is also available on PlayStation 4. Here's what we wrote about last year's PS5 version in our launch review:

"From a purely mechanical and gameplay standpoint, this is the absolute best way to play the first story of The Last of Us. Subtle changes to the enemy AI and challenge turn each encounter into its own miniature battleground", we wrote. "Ammo is just as scarce as its ever been, forcing Joel and Ellie to rely heavily upon discarded bottles and iron pipes more often than the sidearm in the back pocket. Sure, much of this challenge is alleviated when playing on a lower difficulty level, but playing on Grounded or the difficulty level just below highlights just how meticulously crafted the combat has become. Innovations from The Last of Us Part II are neatly intertwined into the combat here in the Part I remake and if you were to play the two back to back, you’d clearly see the enhanced combat that even the PlayStation 4 Remastered edition of The Last of Us didn’t yet have."
