Not sure if you’re up to braving the horrors of The Evil Within 2? You’re not alone – despite receiving solid reviews, the game hasn’t been burning up the sales charts. Well, Bethesda is looking to scare up some sales by offering up a free The Evil Within 2 trial. You can check out details and a new trailer, below.

　　“Starting right now, you can download The Evil Within 2 Free Trial and play through the terrifying opening chapters of the game. At the end of the trial, if you choose to upgrade to the full game, all of your save data will carry over, allowing you to pick up right where you left off. In these first chapters you’ll have the opportunity to explore some of the game’s tight, nightmare-riddled, linear experiences, as well as the more open streets of Union. You’ll also have full access to Sebastian’s customization options, so you can start building the best Sebastian for your playstyle.

　　From mastermind Shinji Mikami, The Evil Within 2 is the latest evolution of survival horror. Detective Sebastian Castellanos has lost it all. But when given a chance to save his daughter, he must descend once more into the nightmarish world of STEM. Horrifying threats emerge from every corner as the world twists and warps around him. 　　Wccf’s Rosh Kelly found The Evil Within 2 to be fun, but not as scary as it could be his review:

　　“As a horror game, I’m not sure The Evil Within 2 stands up on its own. With the occasional jump scare and some good direction it strikes the right tone once in a while, but for the most part the game fails to deliver on the overall sense of horror. Behind that, though, is a great game with interesting enemies, a story that makes no sense, but doesn’t need to, and some really good piece of imaginative art design.”
