On Twitter, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has stated that the studio isn’t currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6.
Following Bethesda’s E3 conference, Geoff Keighley talked to Bethesda’s executive producer and game director, Todd Howard, who confirmed that a new Elder Scrolls, The Elder Scrolls 6, will be released, but that it’s still "a very long way off".
“That's kind of like the elephant in the room when we talk about anything," Howard said in response to Keighley's question whether there'll be an Elder Scrolls 6. "I think it's good in these moments to tell our fans, "yes, of course we are. It's something we love." But it is – you know, I have to be careful what I say – it's a very long way off."
we aren't working on TES6 at the moment

Following his response, Bethesda’s VP was asked whether this was because of The Elder Scrolls Online, but according to Hines this isn’t the care as the studio is currently working hard “two other major titles”.
because they have two other major titles to work on

i'm not lying. i have no reason to lie. just managing expectations and clearing up misconceptions

When his statement was questioned, Hines responded that he’s not lying, and that he just wants to manage people’s expectations and clear up “misconceptions”.
During Bethesda’s own E3 conference several new titles were announced, including id Software’s ‘Quake Champions’, Arkane’s ‘Prey’, a VR version of Fallout 4, and a remastered version of Skyrim for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
Judging from Bethesda’s current line-up and long development cycle, don’t be surprised if ‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ won’t make it appearance somewhere in 2019-2020 – a “very long way off” indeed.
