The Duviri Paradox Open World Roguelike Update Lands in Warframe on April 26th
The Duviri Paradox Open World Roguelike Update Lands in Warframe on April 26th-October 2024
Oct 23, 2024 1:24 AM

Digital Extremes revealed today that The Duviri Paradox update would be released on April 26th across all platforms supported by Warframe (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch, which are now all interconnected with cross-play functionality).

The free update will add the fourth open world map to the free-to-play action MMORPG originally released ten years ago. However, The Duviri Paradox differs from the previous iterations (2017's Plains of Eidolon, 2018's Fortuna, and 2020's Heart of Deimos) in a number of ways.

To begin with, Warframe newcomers will be presented with a choice when starting the game after the update goes live: they can begin right away with The Duviri Paradox as the Drifter, or they can opt to start the game with the regular path. Either way, they won't be locked out of the other choice. Existing Warframe players will find the new quest in their Codex and the Duviri planet on their Star Chart.

Following the end of the quest, all players will be able to continue playing the three modes available in The Duviri Paradox: the roguelike-inspired The Circuit, the solo narrative experience The Lone Story, and the open world The Duviri Experience.

Duviri is a fractured planet made of floating islands. Its colors constantly change based on the moods of its ruler, Dominus Thrax. Each mood (Fear, Anger, Joy, Envy, and Sorrow) also shifts the enemies, thus switching up the combat encounters.

Below the floating islands, however, lies The Undercroft, which is not under the control of Dominus Thrax and is, therefore, free of the ruler's moods. This space is more similar to the Warframe players are used to, featuring custom arenas filled with a variety of threats. Completing the Undercroft provides its own rewards and also restores color to the ever-shifting world of Duviri.

Digital Extremes updated the Drifter experience, too, adding Intrinsics as well as the Decrees, random upgrades that reset with each new mood.

Veterans can check out the new Incarnon Genesis System, installing Incarnon Adapters on select compatible weapons. Incarnon Adapters are only available during the Steel Path Circuit missions, though.

Last but not least, the developers added many new cosmetics to Warframe, such as facial hair options, new suits for the Drifter, Voidshell Skins for Limbo and Mesa, and community-designed Deluxe Skins for Baruuk and Wisp.
