Ubisoft today announced a six-week promotional campaign for its upcoming racing game, The Crew, that will see the title transported across the country to various college campuses. It's called The Crew College Tailgate Tour, and it will tie in with major college football games.
Two trucks featuring gaming stations will simultaneously trek across the United States, stopping at schools whose football teams are playing against each other. The Crew will be playable on each school's campus the week before the game, and then again at the stadium itself on gameday.
The schedule for The Crew College Tailgate Tour is featured in the graphic at left.
"What better way for fans to show their pride and play a role in their team's rivalry than to take on opposing fans in The Crew and race to prove who is best?" Ubisoft marketing executive Tony Key said in a statement.
Does this promotional campaign sound familiar? That might be because Nintendo is holding a very similar effort to promote the release of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U. In fact, some of the dates (including Alabama at LSU on November 8 and Florida State at Miami on November 15) match up between the two campaigns.
Following a short delay, The Crew will launch on December 2 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game is not coming to PlayStation 3. For more on The Crew, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
