The Chronicles of Riddick continue on PC
The Chronicles of Riddick continue on PC-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 10:49 PM

VU Games confirmed to GameSpot today that it has shipped the "Developer's Cut" of its acclaimed first-person shooter, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, for the PC. Rated M for "Mature," the game will retail for just $29.99--despite having bonus content. That's $20 less than the Xbox version, which was released to rave reviews earlier this year, and has proven so popular that a sequel is already in the works.

Escape from Butcher Bay is a de facto prequel to the big-budget sci-fi film epic, The Chronicles of Riddick, which performed poorly at the box office earlier this year. Its protagonist, Richard B. Riddick, is a hardened, antiheroic criminal who is locked up in the titular prison at the game's start. Players control Riddick as he navigates his way through the interplanetary penitentiary, and lays down some of the backstory behind The Chronicles of Riddick and the first film to feature Riddick, Pitch Black.

In both films, Riddick is played by Vin Diesel, who not only lent his voice and likeness to the game, but also helped oversee its development through his own game company, Tigon Studios. Actual development for both versions of the game was done at Swedish studio Starbreeze, which recently signed a deal with Majesco to develop a next-generation title.
