The Big Bang Theory Renewed For Two More Seasons-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 10:18 AM

The Big Bang Theory is returning. It has been confirmed that the show has been renewed for at least two more seasons.

As reported by Deadline, the main stars of the hugely popular comedy--Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar--have signed on for another 48 episodes, which will comprise Seasons 11 and 12.

The show's renewal was delayed due to negotiations over the salaries of supporting cast members Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik. Rauch and Bialik joined the show in Season 3 and are now considered integral to its ongoing storylines. However their salaries have remained well below that of the five leads--around $150,000 per episode, as opposed to the $1 million that the stars take home.

Deadline notes that while Rauch and Bialik are yet to sign deals, they are expected to do so shortly. The site states that they now expected to bank more than $500,000 per episode.

This follows last week's announcement that the Big Bang prequel show had been greenlit. The new series, Young Sheldon, will star Big Little Lies actor Iain Armitage as the 9-year-old version of Sheldon Cooper, the character portrayed by Jim Parsons on Big Bang. Parsons will narrate the new show.

The Big Bang Theory Season 11 and Young Sheldon Season 1 are expected to debut in the fall.

Disclosure: CBS is GameSpot's parent company.
