If this were any normal year, we'd all be gearing up for summer blockbuster season, where highly-anticipated movies blow us away. However, we're all in a very different situation right now, but thankfully, summer blockbuster season also means TV networks shift to silly game shows, which is exactly what we all need right now.
On ABC, the most important and exciting of the returning game shows is Holey Moley, an extreme miniature golf show that debuted in 2019. If you like putting and people falling down--primarily into water--this show is for you. It also has a fantastic commentary team, featuring Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore. Check out the recent trailer below.
Holey Moley returns to ABC on Thursday, May 21 at 9 PM / 8 PM CT.
There is also the usual fare coming back to ABC, including numerous game shows that make not-so-subtle references to sex and genitalia as much as possible. Celebrity Family Feud and Match Game both return on Sunday, May 31 at 8 PM / 7 PM CT and 10 PM / 9 PM CT respectively. Press Your Luck also returns that night in the 9 PM / 8 PM CT time slot; however, that show isn't filled with sexual references.
Remember being a kid and playing tag? Well, Fox is taking it to the extreme--because why not? JJ Watt will host Ultimate Tag on Fox, which premieres on Wednesday, May 20. Check out the trailer below.
Yep, it's exactly what you expected, isn't it?
Finally, coming to NBC on May 21 is Celebrity Escape Room. While there is no trailer for the upcoming show, the hour-long special will happen before the Red Nose Day fundraiser event. Jack Black and Ben Stiller are executive producers of the special, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show sees Black, Stiller, Courteney Cox, Adam Scott, and Lisa Kudrow trying to... escape a room. Considering the amount of comedic talent trapped in one room, it should be highly entertaining.
And speaking of things you should be watching, consider listening to GameSpot's weekly TV series and movies-focused podcast, You Should Be Watching. With new episodes premiering every Wednesday, you can watch a video version of the podcast over on GameSpot Universe or listen to audio versions on Spotify, Stitcher, Google Play, and Apple Podcasts.
