TOKYO - Data East is currently developing a golf game for the Dreamcast called Net Golf that seemed to impress many at the Tokyo Game Show. Similar in style to the popular Hot Shots Golf series, Net Golf features cartoony characters with large heads in realistic golf settings. Characters in Net Golf come look to cover all types of potential golfers there's a cowboy, a samurai, a businessman, and others as they club it out for the trophy. From what we've seen of the game so far, the visuals look very impressive especially when compared to titles like Hot Shots Golf (a game which is definitely showing its age when stacked up next to the new Dreamcast title). Everything from the character animation to the camera movements looked incredibly smooth.
Being developed by Data East and published by Sega, the four-player Net Golf will be available in Japan sometime early next year.
