With the ability of the arcade versions of Guitar Freaks and DrumMania to link together for three-player games, it's only natural for Konami to combine the two games into one for the home market. The Bemani game, which is scheduled for a December release on the PlayStation 2, combines the third installment of Guitar Freaks with the second installment of DrumMania.
The game gives you the option of playing DrumMania, Guitar Freaks, or the session mode, which lets you plug the drums into port one and a guitar (or two, if you have a Multitap) into port two.
These two games add licensed music to the mix, including songs like Smoke on the Water and Johnny B. Good. In addition, some songs have a new bass guitar option that lets you play either lead or bass. All the usual features, such as free mode, training mode, and several types of level variants are also present.
Guitar Freaks 3rd Mix & DrumMania 2nd Mix for the PlayStation 2 is scheduled to hit the Japanese market this December.
