TDK Corporation has announced plans to acquire software development firm Sound Source Interactive. Following the completion of the deal, Sound Source will be renamed TDK Mediactive and will serve as the North American and European software development and distribution arm for TDK Corporation. TDK will make an initial investment of US$1.425 million, followed by an additional $3.575 million investment - dependent on an increase in the company's authorized shares - for a total stake of 72 percent in Sound Source Interactive.
"TDK intends to build a worldwide presence in the interactive software industry with a portfolio of products for both current video game platforms and next-generation systems, as well as other new technology delivery systems as applicable," said Shin Tanabe, who will assume the role of president and COO of TDK Mediactive. "Sound Source Interactive and TDK share a product development philosophy that is family friendly, and we will endeavor to publish titles that are fun and exciting, but without explicitly violent content."
Vincent Bitteti, currently the CEO of Sound Source Interactive, will maintain that role within the new company.
