The Australian games industry--fresh from a record year in 2006--has two new leaders to spearhead the charge into 2007. Tom Crago, the CEO of Australian-based developer Tantalus Interactive, has been appointed as president of the Game Developers' Association of Australia (GDAA), while Greg Bondar has been assigned the post of executive director.
The GDAA is the peak representative body for the games industry in Australia. Crago is an industry veteran whose company Tantalus has produced more than 20 games in its history, including recent PSP title MX vs. ATV Unleashed. Bondar replaces outgoing executive director Evelyn Richardson. Bondar previously headed up the Australian Telecommunications Users Group and the Australian Chamber of Shipping.
In a statement, Crago said the Australian industry had achieved much in recent years but still had some challenges to face. "The challenge now is to continue to grow and to assert ourselves internationally with new titles and new success stories. The GDAA is committed to helping its members realise these goals," he said.
