Tales Of Berseria Official Website Updated With New Screenshots, Battle System Details-January 2024
Jan 26, 2025 11:35 PM

Tales of Berseria, the new entry of the Tales of series by Bandai Namco currently in development for PlayStation consoles and PC, has been revealed a while back, but more solid details on the game's characters and features have started emerging online only recently. Today, the game's Official Japanese website has been updated with some new screenshots showcasing characters and battles as well as new gameplay details.

The new Tales of Berseria screenshots focus on characters other than protagonist Velvet such as Rokuro and Eleanor as well as on battle sequences. The battle screenshots are especially interesting, as they give us a glimpse on what the battle interface will be. You can check out the screenshots below.

As mentioned above, the Tales Of Berseria Official Japanese website has shared some new details on the game's battle system. As already revealed not too long ago, players will be able to assign Arte Sets to four different buttons. Unlike Tales of Graces F and Tales of Zestiria, players will be able to customize the Arte Sets, which should lead to some very interesting combo possibilities. Like in Tales of Zestiria, however, the Arte Sets will include four different Artes, so the first Arte of the set will be unleashed when trying to link more than four.

Tales of Berseria is also going to feature a new gameplay mechanic called Soul Gauge. The Soul Gauge keeps count of how many Souls each character currently has, with all Artes requiring a specific amount to be performed. At the beginning of the battle, all characters will start with a Soul value of 3, and they can increase it by stealing Souls from enemies, collecting them on the battlefield, stun or inflict status ailments and more. The Soul Gauge system doesn't seem to be radically different from the CC system found in Tales of Graces F and Tales of Destiny DC, but it's too early to say for sure, as there are battle system features that have to be revealed.

Tales Of Berseria will be released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan this year. The game will be released on a yet to be confirmed release date on PlayStation 4 and PC in North America and Europe.
