Proving that a publishing and distribution formula that embraces diversification can feed the bottom line till it bloats, Take-Two Interactive - publisher/distributor of games for the PC, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Game Boy Color, and the Sega Dreamcast - said today its revenues from net sales ending October 31, 1998, increased 104 percent from the same period a year ago.
Citing strong Q4 sales of Grand Theft Auto (for the PC and PlayStation), which now number over a million units, and strong initial sales of Railroad Tycoon 2 for the PC (from the Gathering of Developers), Take-Two reported sales of US$191 million for the recent fiscal year. This is a $97 million increase over last year.
The company attributes its fingers being in various distribution, publishing, and development pots as the reason for its success.
