Yeah baby, Take-Two Interactive has acquired the exclusive worldwide rights for the next four years to publish PC and console games based on the Austin Powers movies from New Line Cinema.
Take-Two plans to release games based on the first two movies, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, for the Nintendo 64, Sony PlayStation, and the PC next year. It also intends to bring Austin himself and his arch rival, Dr. Evil, to next-generation platforms like the PlayStation2.
"The development team at Take-Two's Rockstar Games clearly understands the creative possibilities of this franchise, and we are looking forward to working with them on what we all hope will be exciting new interactive gaming concepts," stated Bob Friedman, co-chairman of worldwide marketing for New Line Cinema.
