Oct 17, 2024 11:22 AM

Take 2 Interactive, which recently released the PC game Dark Colony, reported financial results on Tuesday for both the third quarter and the nine-month periods ending July 31, 1997.

Over the nine-month period, Take 2 generated net sales of US$12.5 million while incurring an operating loss of $1.15 million and a net loss of $2.08 million ($0.26 per share). That compares to net sales of $5.62 million, an operating loss of $1.04 million, and a net loss of $1.2 million ($0.15 per share) during the same period in 1996.

For the third quarter, Take 2 generated net sales of $2.8 million, an operating loss of $1.4 million, and a net loss of $1.5 million ($0.17 per share). For the same period in 1996, the company had net sales of $545,423, an operating loss of $585,734, and a net loss of $608,760 ($0.08 per share).

"Losses incurred for the three- and nine-month periods are in line with company expectations," said Ryan A. Brant, Take 2's chief executive officer, in a statement. "Our business is subject to fluctuations in operating results due primarily to the timing of new product introductions."

Aside from its introduction of Dark Colony, Take 2, which was established in 1993, plans, before the year is out, to release Jetfighter Fullburn, Postal, and Jetfighter Platinum for the PC and Wheel of Fortune for the Nintendo 64.
