Tabata: Our DLC Content Will Be Extremely Valuable; Characters’ Personality Will Come Through-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 11:34 AM

Tabata's Final Fantasy XV is coming. Kingsglaive, the CGI companion movie, is already out there and the game itself is about two months and a half away from its debut, after many years of development.

During an interview conducted by Hardcore Gamer at the Tokyo Game Show 2016, Director Hajime Tabata (who took over from Tetsuya Nomura in September 2014) talked a bit about the Season Pass DLC content coming after the game's release.

Once the development on the main game ends, and once we can pick up the pace on the DLC development, we’ll be sure to communicate all the details. Unfortunately at this time, we don’t have all the assets or information to do a full blown communication of what it entails. That said, that is forthcoming. That said, our overarching plan is confirmed in that we do want to place focus on each of the characters, not only in the episode, but making sure that their personality comes through in the gameplay as well. So that plan, overarching plan is confirmed, so we are confident to say the DLC content that we will be pushing out will be extremely valuable and our consumers will find value in what we offer.

As a reminder, Final Fantasy XV's Season Pass costs $25 and contains the following six episodes:

DLC 1: Booster Pack (Working Title)DLC 2: Episode Gladio (Working Title)DLC 3: Holiday Pack (Working Title)DLC 4: Episode Ignis (Working Title)DLC 5: Episode Prompto (Working Title)DLC 6: Expansion Pack (Working Title)Later in that interview, Tabata explained that the game's size and scale will be incomparably larger than some of the games out there, particularly due to the design requirement of travelling by car.

It’s not going to be a direct answer, unfortunately, because it’s hard to compare, that said, we are developing and creating a game in which you travel or journey by car, so a certain degree of — we did need to create it in a larger scale or a big scale. A certain level of scale was needed in order to create a game that surrounded travel by car. So even compared to other games, we can definitely say that it’s something that’s incomparable, something new, something that you’ve never experienced before in relation to some of the other games that are already out on the market.

Final Fantasy XV will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29th. A PC version is still being evaluated by Square Enix, though it seems inevitable at some point.
