Swords & Sorcery: Come Devils, Come Darkness was shown as one of Virgin Interactive's big games at E3 back in 1998 with the hopes of a prosperous future with a planned release for October 98. Then Virgin pulled itself completely from the US market and left the game's developer, Heuristic Park, without a publisher for a short time until it was picked up by Westwood Studios for a summer '99 release. Now the developer has decided to go it alone by acquiring all the rights to the game and looking for a new publisher.
Recently, Heuristic announced that most of the fantasy RPG has already been completed, and the team is focused on adding new features and performance enhancements. When the game releases, it will also be taking on a new name. The company and its founder would not hint on what the new title of the game will be or when gamers can expect to play the game that started its life as Swords & Sorcery.
The game's designer and Heuristic Park founder, D.W. Bradley, best known for his design work with Wizardry 4, 5, 6, and 7 while at Sirtech.
A spokesperson for Westwood said that the company was happy with the deal and wished Heuristic the best of luck for finding a new publisher.
