Once you finish Super Mario RPG’s story and roll credits you can save your cleared data. If you load up this saved data, you’ll return to before the climax of the game and can now track down the large majority of the side content, secrets, and items you may have missed. That said, there are a few things that can only be done at certain points in the game, such as…
At the end of the Booster’s Tower level, if you fail the minigame where you hide behind the curtains in order to avoid detection by the Snifits you will not be given Booster’s Charm, with no second chances to get it. This is pretty nice accessory that boosts your stats and halves elemental damage.Near the beginning of the Nimbus Land castle level when Dodo inspects you while you’re disguised as a statue you have to dodge all his pecks. If you don’t, you won’t get the Feather item. The Feather will boost your stats, particularly Speed. There are also a couple of cameos that you can only encounter at specific moments in the game. You can find Link sleeping in the Rose Town Inn after you defeat Bowyer and Samus sleeping in the Mushroom Kingdom Inn after you beat Belome for the second time. Both these cameos will disappear later in the game.Beyond the things listed above, there are a few more scattered missables, but they aren’t particularly important (coins, items, ect.)There you are – all the things of import you can miss in Super Mario RPG. As I said, it’s really not a lot, but if you want to experience absolutely everything the game has to offer, don’t let these things pass you by.
