Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Is Showing New Gameplay and Story Tomorrow, After 9 Months of Silence-September 2024
Sep 20, 2024 10:43 PM

It's been nearly nine months since Rocksteady finally unveiled the debut gameplay of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League during February's State of Play showcase.

As you'll probably remember, the first footage of the game wasn't well received at all, prompting Rocksteady and Warner Bros. to delay the game from the previous late May release date to February 2nd, 2024, in an attempt to make it a 'quality experience'.

Ever since, there's only been silence from the development studio. The quiet broke a few hours ago, with Rocksteady announcing a series of videos labeled 'Suicide Squad Insider'. The first of these streams will debut tomorrow, Wednesday November 15th, at 10 AM Pacific Time (6 PM GMT), on the official YouTube channel. Rocksteady said it would show off some new story and gameplay.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has had a long and troubled development history. Rocksteady received much acclaim for its Batman: Arkham trilogy, but following the June 2015 release of Arkham Knight, there were rumors that the London-based developer would switch gears to make a Superman game instead. However, subsequent rumors surmised Warner Bros. had passed on the pitch, and Rocksteady was actually working on a game about a group of superheroes instead.

The latter was finally confirmed in August 2020, when Rocksteady revealed it was working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As anyone could have guessed from the title, the band of misfits and antiheroes has been put together to stop the regular heroes, including Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Batman, who have been corrupted by Brainiac. The squad will be reluctantly aided by Wonder Woman, who's still herself (at least according to the trailers).

Set in an open world Metropolis, the game allows players to pick between four characters: Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang. Cooperative multiplayer is supported for up to four players, though it is possible to play solo with the rest of the squad handled by the AI.

Originally scheduled to launch in 2022, the game was postponed to 2023 before moving again to the following year, as mentioned earlier in the article. If the new release date holds, it'll be nearly nine years since the release of Rocksteady's previous game.
