Can't wait for the next local Renaissance Fair? 2K Games is bringing the medieval mentality to tunic-clad PC gamers this April with Stronghold 2. The game, which was developed by London-based Firefly Studios, has gone gold and will invade retail stores in two weeks.
When starting Stronghold 2, gamers will have the challenge of turning a modest keep into a thriving castle. As overlord of the community, it will be the responsibility of players to send peasants off to gather resources, keep the grounds safe and sanitary, and entertain the keep's inhabitants through jousting tournaments and other simple pleasures.
It's not all about pipers and paupers though, as warring factions regularly lay siege to fortresses. Bowmen, spearmen, and other combat units must be employed to defend attacks from armies with siege towers, catapults, and archers.
Stronghold 2 will feature multiple campaigns, historical reenactments, and multiplayer modes for up to eight players. A mission and campaign editor will also be included in the game.
Stronghold 2 is rated T for Teen and will have an SRP of $39.99. For more information on Stronghold 2, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
