Street Fighter V Arcade Mode Includes Branching Paths and Over 200 Endings
Street Fighter V Arcade Mode Includes Branching Paths and Over 200 Endings-November 2024
Nov 25, 2024 1:41 AM

When Street Fighter V first launched back in 2016, it lacked a lot of features most fans would consider standard, including a proper Arcade Mode. Nearly two years later, that Arcade Mode is still missing in action. Thankfully, Capcom have announced they plan to finally add an Arcade option to Street Fighter V in January, and it sounds like it might end up being worth the wait.

According to a new blog post from Capcom, Street Fighter V will actually be getting a series of Arcade modes – one for each of Street Fighter’s six generations. Each path will only contain fighters from that particular generation, so, for instance, you won’t see Street Fighter III’s Alex showing up in the Street Fighter II path. These paths will also branch, leading to over 200 possible endings.

Here’s the full rundown from Capcom:

“Upon selecting Arcade on the main menu, you’ll be prompted to select which path to choose along with how many battles to expect. The available paths are Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V. You can also customize how many total rounds and the difficulty before starting.

You’ll find that after every battle, you have a choice on who to fight next, opening up the possibilities of a higher score if you’re confident in defeating the more difficult match ahead of you. Each month, Arcade Mode points are added up, and the player with the highest score will gain a unique Title! In some paths, the Bonus Stage, which first appeared in the original Street Fighter, will be available where you’ll be tasked with breaking 20 barrels as they plummet into the center of the screen from conveyer belts above.

There’s no Arcade Mode without the multiple endings! In Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, there are over 200 different endings featuring gorgeous illustrations from various artists. You can head into the Gallery to find out the unlock condition for each ending. They range from simply completing a path to getting a “Perfect” on the bonus stage. Can you unlock them all?”

It’s arguably way too late for Street Fighter V to woo more casual fighting game fans with Arcade Mode, but, nevertheless, it’s nice to see it finally happening. I haven’t played the game in over a year, but I’ll probably boot it up again to give the new mode a try. I’m probably not alone.

Street Fighter V’s Arcade Mode will be released as a free update on January 16, 2018. If you’re just joining the rumble, you’ll can also buy the standalone Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, which contains Arcade Mode and all DLC characters to date.

Street Fighter V is currently available on PC and PS4.
