CAPCOM announced that a Street Fighter 6 demo is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, allowing everyone to check out the highly anticipated fighting game. PC and Xbox Series S|X users will also get the chance to try the Street Fighter 6 demo next week, starting on April 26th at 12 AM Pacific Time.
The demo includes the basic portion of the Tutorial, practicing with Luke and Ryu in the Character Guide, checking out a bit of the World Tour mode, and experimenting with the character creator. Custom characters created in the Street Fighter 6 demo will carry over to the final version as well, provided you'll be playing on the same platform.
During the live stream, CAPCOM also shared a lot of new info on the game's various modes and content. To begin with, the developers showcased the brand-new World Tour mode. One of the many locations players will find in this mode is the fictional Asian country of Nayshall.
World Tour also has roleplaying game elements, like consuming items during battle or at food shops to regain Vitality, acquire buffs, or inflict debuffs on your enemies. Throughout the mode, players will level up their characters and allocate skill points on a dedicated skill tree to personalize their moves.
Additionally, players will become students under their favorite Masters (any of the game's 18 characters available at launch) to learn their special moves. It'll even be possible to give them presents and complete missions to increase the bond with them, which in turn unlocks new cutscenes to showcase the personal relationship of your custom fighter with the legendary Street Fighter characters.
All of this effort in building up your own character can then be shown off online with the Avatar Battles mode. Speaking of multiplayer, Custom Rooms have been expanded to host up to 16 players. Here, each of the four virtual cabinets can be set to One on One, Extreme Battle (where players will need to follow the specific rulesets), or Practice.
Ranked Matches are, of course, returning in Street Fighter 6 with some improvements. Rookies won't be losing any League Points when defeated, thus encouraging them to continue playing and improving. Each character will also be ranked separately from the others, which will allow players to try new characters without fear of losing their hard-earned ranking. Iron-Gold and Master-ranked characters won't be demoted in the League, and there's a one-time demotion shield for those in the Diamond tier or below.
In the Battle Hub, players may also create their own Club, which functions as the game's version of a clan. They can create a custom emblem and uniform so that their members will be known throughout the world.
Lastly, CAPCOM provided an overview of what's coming to the game in the first year since launch. Rashid of the Turbulent Wind returns to Street Fighter 6 this Summer; A.K.I. will debut in Autumn; Ed comes back in early Winter 2024, and Akuma himself returns as well in Spring 2024.
All of these characters will be available as Masters in the World Tour mode after they're added to the game. They're bundled with the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions since both include the Year 1 Character Pass.
Are you eager to check out the new Street Fighter 6 demo? As a reminder, the full game will be released on June 2nd for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
