The free Driveclub PlayStation Plus edition was supposed to launch back on October 7, but widespread and significant server woes led to Sony putting the game "on hold." Today, Sony addressed the matter again, but unfortunately for fans, there is still no timetable to speak of for when the game will finally be released.
"We understand many of you are waiting for Driveclub PS Plus Edition to be added to the Instant Game Collection, and we apologize that the game is not yet ready to launch," Sony wrote on the European PlayStation Blog today. "We want you to know that we're committed to providing Driveclub PS Plus Edition to members when it's ready, and the team at Evolution Studios is working hard to make it a reality."
"We will still add Driveclub to the PS Plus line up when it becomes available," Sony added.
Last week, Sony president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, addressed the Driveclub woes. Like Evolution Studios before him, he apologized, and explained: "Unfortunately, the road to launch has been a little rocky, and we are truly sorry that so many of you have not been able to enjoy everything that we had hoped Driveclub would deliver."
At the time, he also announced that the PlayStation Plus version of Driveclub is now on hold indefinitely.
As a result of the issues, fans have asked for some form of compensation. Evolution has not ruled it out, though no further details about such a program have been announced.
