State of Decay developer Undead Labs has signed a multi-year, multi-title agreement to extend its development relationship with Microsoft Studios, the developer announced today on its blog.
The third-person open-world zombie game exploded on Xbox Live upon release in June 2013, selling 500,000 copies in two weeks to become the "fastest-selling original game" on Xbox Live Arcade. It has since reached 1 million copies sold, though that figure also includes PC sales.
An extension of a development relationship could mean many things, though language in the company's blog post suggests a sequel--perhaps for Xbox One--is in development.
"We'll be able to share details later this year, but as with State of Decay, we think it's best if we just keep our heads down and build some prototypes before we talk too much," Undead Labs founder Jeff Strain said. "For now, suffice it to say there are big things going on with State of Decay."
