After enjoying a two-week period as the best-selling PC game in North America, Cavedog's Total Annihilation: Kingdoms was blasted down to seventh place, having been displaced by, of all things, Blizzard's Starcraft, according to this week's figures from PC Data's Hits List. Sales of software and other computer products bundled with Starcraft peaked this week, accounting for the resurgence of last year's runaway hit. That's also true for Electronic Arts' Need for Speed 3, which jumped onto the list at sixth place.
Meanwhile, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Rainbow Six Gold, Star Wars: Episode I and SimCity 3000 (which took second, third, fourth and fifth place, respectively) continued to flex their marketing muscle. Monopoly and Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2, each of which is a bargain at under US$20, rounded out the list.
