Star Wars: The Force Awakens Deleted Scene Shows Chewbacca About to Get Violent [SPOILERS]-September 2024

This post contains The Force Awakens spoilers.

Ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' 3D Blu-ray/DVD release next month, some of the home video version's bonuses features have started to come online.

Today, Entertainment Weekly published a deleted scene that that sees Rey facing off with Unkar Plutt (Simon Pegg), a junk dealer who is no friend to Rey. In the theatrical version, Rey, Finn, and BB-8 steal the Millennium Falcon, which Plutt had been holding, and he's not very happy about it.

This deleted scene--watch it at EW--sees Rey happening to meet up with Plutt in a bar on Takodana. Plutt wants his ship back, but Rey doesn't budge. She's puts a gun on him, but things don't go to plan. Thankfully, Chewbacca steps in.

The scene cuts to black with Plutt putting his hand on Chewbacca, threatening him. It's not shown in this video, but right after this, Chewbacca rips Plutt's arm off, sending it hurtling through the air. The appendage lands on a gambling table; Warwick Davis' character, Wollivan, scolds Chewbacca for this.

In the novelization of The Force Awakens, we learn more about the graphic nature of this encounter.

"Grabbing the thrusting arm, a roaring Chewbacca twisted and ripped it off at the shoulder, throwing the dismembered limb clear across the room. Looking down at himself, Plutt let out a scream of agony...," reads the line in question, as posted by Gizmodo.

In 1977's A New Hope, Han Solo warns C-3PO not to beat Chewbacca at a chess-like game because the hairy creature has been known to rip people's limbs off.

The 3D Blu-ray/DVD version of The Force Awakens also includes commentary from J.J. Abrams about a particularly memorable scene between Kylo Ren and Han Solo. It comes out on November 15.
