Now Playing: Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - Official Final Trailer
The Last Jedi is projected to make between $175 million and $200 million for its opening weekend in the US, making it the worst-performing of the new trilogy films. The movie is also the second-lowest rated movie in Star Wars history, but what impact the scores have on box office results--if any--remains to be seen.
We will report back with more details on The Rise of Skywalker's box office results as numbers come in for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Keep checking back for more.
The movie wraps up decades' worth of storytelling, as it ends the Skywalker Saga that began back in 1977. After The Rise of Skywalker, Disney is putting the Star Wars series on hiatus as it plans out the future of the franchise, which includes a new trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.
