Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney Will Make Netflix Their Streaming Home Later This Year-November 2024
Nov 17, 2024 7:21 PM

Netflix will soon be the only place to stream films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Pixar in the US, the movie company announced today. The multi-year exclusivity deal between Netflix and Disney was finalized in 2012. It starts this September, though the films set to appear have not been announced.

The deal made Netflix the exclusive US subscription TV service for Disney and its studios' live-action and animated movies, starting with 2016 theatrical releases. That means no Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Additionally, Disney movies will still be available on iTunes and other stores, but they won't show up on television or subscription channels like HBO or Starz for the duration of this deal.

Netflix talked about this in a blog post today, where it also detailed what subscribers would see on the streaming service this summer. In June, they'll see movies like the Jurassic Park series, the Oscar-winning Spotlight, and A Walk to Remember. You can see the rest of what's coming to Netflix next month here.

Additionally, there'll be Back to the Future, Lethal Weapon, and The Big Short in July, while August sees The Little Prince, The Fast & the Furious, and The Wedding Planner.
