Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Patch 5 Comparisons Show Improved Performance, But Stuttering Issues Still Remain-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 7:50 AM

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Patch 5 brings definite performance improvements on PC, but some of the biggest technical issues found in the new entry in the series by Respawn have yet to be addressed properly.

New comparison videos, shared by MxBenchmark PC and AZZATRU, highlight how Patch 5 did bring some performance improvements in CPU-limited scenarios, confirming how the new patch introduced further CPU optimizations. In GPU-limited scenarios, however, performance is pretty much in line with the previous update. Additionally, while frame time seems to be more stable in problematic areas like planet Koboh, traversal stuttering is still quite evident, so Respawn still has a lot of work to do to finally fix the game properly.

It's a shame Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still isn't in a very good state on PC, as the new entry in the series is among the best games released this year, thanks to the many improvements made to its predecessor's formula and a very engaging story. While Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a surprise journey when it was first released, the time spent apart hasn’t made Cal Kestis’ adventures any less enjoyable. A similar framework in unfamiliar territories helps to establish Jedi: Survivor as a quality sequel to the original release. Jedi: Survivor still plays it safe in comparison to the prior game. It may be difficult to give Jedi: Survivor full marks for its individuality, but compared to the predecessor focused on Cal’s time as a Jedi Padawan, each title can stand up on its own merits, and Jedi: Survivor polishes up much of the experience as it propels the narrative ever forward on Cal Kestis’ journey to Tanalorr.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide. Patch 5 will release in the near future on consoles.
