Star Wars Jedi: Survivor New Gameplay Footage Confirms Human Dismemberment And More-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 10:26 PM

New Star Wars Jedi: Survivor footage was shared online, providing a new look at the second entry in the series currently in development by EA and Respawn.

The new footage, shared on YouTube by IGN, focuses on the game's five combat stances, detailing how they differ from one another and how and when they should be used. The new footage also confirms that human dismemberment will finally be in.

Get a rundown on the five different lightsaber stances you'll wield in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, from single bladed, to dual blades, even to the new blaster stance. We talked with the developers at Respawn to learn all about how these stances play into the combat.

The new combat stances aren't the only new feature introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as the game will feature bigger maps, better traversal mechanics, and bigger enemy variety. Most of these features wouldn't have been possible with previous-generation consoles' hardware limitations, as confirmed by game director Stig Asmussen.

Bottom line, we learned quickly that we could take advantage of the faster processors, larger/faster memory, better loading times, etc, to create much larger maps, with more detail, greater density, broader enemy/NPC variety, and overall fidelity. These features aligned perfectly with how we wanted to push the game. We didn’t want to break what we did in the first game because it was well received, but we wanted to evolve/enhance the experience. This new generation allowed us to do exactly that, and I believe it translates to a true new-gen experience in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was initially scheduled for a March 17th release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but the game was eventually delayed to April 28th for additional polishing, as confirmed by the development team last month.

In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th
