Star Wars Jedi: Survivor expands the formula introduced by its predecessor, Jedi: Fallen Order, in a lot of different ways, resulting in a game that not only is much more fun to play but also that lets players customize Cal's fighting style and approach combat scenarios in a variety of different ways.
Alongside the Lightsaber Stances system, which grants Cal five different fighting styles with their pros and cons, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor features a Perks system that allows players to equip different perks that grant a variety of beneficial effects.
Unfortunately, Perk slots are limited, especially at the start of the campaign, so you will be forced to make choices. As the best Perks also require more than a single slot, you will still be making choices even as you advance through the game, so knowing which Perks to equip will make your life much easier and empower Cal's chosen fighting style to make him deadly.
The Resilience Perk, which is one of the first Perks that can be obtained in the game after completing the first Jedi Meditation Chamber, the Chamber of Duality, in Koboh's Smuggler's Tunnels, is generally a good Perk to equip, no matter your playstyle, as it increases Cal's block meter. As you experience more of the game and become more adept at parrying, this Perk becomes slightly less useful, but if you're a more defensive fighter, you can get a lot of mileage out of it.
The Centered Perk, which is obtained on the Shattered Moon, on the other hand, is a great Perk to have on at all times, even after you have mastered the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor combat system, as it staggers enemies in Cal's vicinity while using a Healing Stim, and lets Cal take one hit without interrupting the healing process. As the healing animation is rather long, having the Centered Perk equipped can be the difference between life and death. The perk, however, loses a bit of value after learning the Teamwork skill, as this skill shortens the healing process considerably.
Speaking about healing, another great Perk to equip to get some free healing as you are chopping limbs from all sorts of enemies is the Persistence perk. This perk, which is obtained from the Chamber of Fortitude on Koboh, restores Cal's health by a certain amount by killing enemies during Force Slow. While Jedi Masters and Grand Jedi Masters won't probably get much use out of it, most Star Wars Jedi: Survivor players will definitely welcome the ability to heal without having to use a Healing Stim.
The Wisdom Perk is also another great perk to use if you're looking to obtain skill points as quickly as possible, as it increases experience points gain. This perk can be purchased from Zee at Pylon's Saloon for five Datadiscs
If you do not need any of the beneficial effects granted by the general usage Perks above, there are a few choices that will make certain Lightsaber Stances more powerful. One of these is the Shatter Perk, which is obtained after taking down the Rancor as part of The Missing Prospectors sub-mission on Koboh. This Perk makes attacks more effective at depleting the enemies' block gauge, making it a perfect fit for both the powerful Crossguard Stance and the fast-hitting Dual Wield stance.
If you're a Blaster Stance aficionado, then you really need to get your hands on the Marksmanship Perk as soon as you can. This Perk, which is found inside a house on the Stone Spires on Koboh, increases the damage dealt by the blaster, making this Stance way more effective. And if you like fighting from mid-range as well, the Dexterity Perk, obtained in the Chamber of Reason on Koboh, makes all Lightsaber throws more effective. Equip this Perk after unlocking the Crossguard Stance throw skill and watch enemies' health bars melt away!
