Square Enix Plans To Support The Nintendo Switch More Than Scorpio And Win 10 In 2017, CEO Reveals-November 2024
Nov 8, 2024 1:22 AM

For a few years now, Square Enix has been supporting most platforms on the market with a variety of titles, and 2017 is looking to be not all that different in this regard, with games like NieR Automata and others hitting PC and consoles in all regions. For the current year, however, Square Enix will mostly focus on one particular new platform.

Speaking with Nikkei about a variety of matters, Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda confirmed that the Japanese publisher is going to support the Nintendo Switch as well as Scorpio and Windows 10 Game Mode, but the publisher will be focusing the most on the Nintendo Switch.

Talking about the Nintendo Switch, Yosuke Matsuda also confirmed that he would like more titles in development and even more ports if they're feasible, as having more platforms is generally good for developers and publishers.

Square Enix hasn't announced any big Nintendo Switch title so far, despite praising the platform on several occasions. One of the confirmed titles from the Japanese publisher is the Seiken Densetsu Collection, which apparently has a chance of making it to the West despite Seiken Densetsu 3 never having received an official Western release.

Eng ver. of Seiken Densetsu 3: If a translation exists, Square Enix would have it, not us. If not, I don’t think it’s impossible to make one, but we haven’t looked into it. If you really want an Eng ver, I think the best chance would be to show Square Enix your enthusiasm.
