The premiere date of the much-anticipated third season of the cult TV show Twin Peaks was finally announced last week. The show returns to screens in May, and now an eerie new teaser has been released, revealing star Kyle Maclachlan in his iconic role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper. Check it out below:
The two-hour premiere of the new season debuts on Showtime on May 21 at 9 PM ET. At the Television Critics Assocation press tour last week, Showtime CEO David Nevins revealed that the show will run a total of 18 hours, and that the next two episodes will be available online immediately afterwards.
Several teasers have been released over the past couple of months. A recent one featured co-creator David Lynch, in character as oddball FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, snacking on a donut. Another showed composer Angelo Badalamenti performing some of the show's haunting music, while a third featured on-set footage and short interviews with the cast.
In October, a new book, The Secret History of Twin Peaks, was released. It reveals more about the history of the titular town and bridged the gap to the new season.
Twin Peaks originally ran from 1990-91 on ABC, followed by a prequel film, Fire Walk With Me, in 1992. Much of the original cast is returning for the new season along with more than a few new additions.
Disclosure: Showtime is a division of CBS, which is GameSpot's parent company.
