Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Breaks Avengers: Endgame's 24-Hour Record-November 2024
Nov 7, 2024 4:45 PM

Sony Pictures has announced that the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has set a new record for most views for a trailer over its first 24 hours. The film's teaser trailer picked up 355.5 million views worldwide, which beats the record set by Avengers: Endgame (289 million views).

For comparison, Far From Home's most popular trailer reached 135 million views in its first 24 hours, so No Way Home's trailer doubled that. Sony Pictures also called out the social media buzz for No Way Home, with 4.5 million mentions on social media over its first 24 hours.

Part of what might have driven increased interest in the No Way Home trailer was the fact that it leaked ahead of time, generating potentially even more buzz than it otherwise would have.

No Way Home is the sequel to 2019's Far From Home, which made $1.13 billion worldwide at the box office to stand as Sony's biggest movie of all time. The 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming made $880 million globally at the box office.

No Way Home releases in theaters on December 17, and it'll be interesting to see how the film does at the box office given the ongoing pandemic.

The No Way Home trailer showed Tom Holland's Spider-Man teaming up with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). After the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, everyone knows Spider-Man's true identity, and this is causing issues for Peter Parker. So he asks Strange to cast a spell that makes everyone forget that Mysterio revealed his identity to the world.

For some reason, Strange complies, and the world descends into madness. Alfred Molina's Doc-Ock shows up at the end of the trailer, which suggests a multiverse because the character died in Spider-Man 2 and is now back. The trailer is also hiding a secret villain--and we might know who it is.

In other news, Holland himself reacted to the release of the No Way Home trailer, teasing that it's just the "tip of the iceberg" in terms of what to expect. "You have no idea what else is to come. I am so excited to share more with you guys," Holland said.
