Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Star Knew Playing Miles Morales Was His Destiny-January 2024
Jan 10, 2025 4:54 AM

While Marvel Studios may be done with new movies for the year, Sony still has a couple more coming out in the next few months. Aside from Venom, which had a new trailer this week and revealed the villain Riot, Sony's animated movie Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will be closing out the year in December. From what we've seen and heard about for this film, it seems pretty awesome.

During the Sony panel at Comic-Con, we learned a bit more about the upcoming film, including that Nic Cage will be playing Spider-Man: Noir. However, during a roundtable discussion with the cast, we learned that the voice of Miles Morales, Shameik Moore, is pretty excited about the role, especially since this is the first time fans will see Miles on the big screen. "I feel blessed," explained Moore. "I feel chosen. There's a lot of black people, a lot of latino people, and I'm sitting in front of you... I want to be a positive role model. I think it's a good way to start."

Now Playing: Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Official Trailer

What's interesting is that this is a role Moore has wanted to play for quite some time. While he was filming Dope back in 2015, Kiersey Clemons--who played Diggy in the movie--gave him a notebook. "I wrote 'I am Miles Morales' and 'I am Spider-man' in my journal," explained Moore. "Kiersey gave me a journal for whatever reason, and I started writing. We were really big on The Secret, The Law of Attraction, The Four Agreements, reading books and practicing that.

"We were working out at 6AM, taking however many mile runs up the street. Eating healthy. All of us in that apartment were pushing each other, growing successful actors, and so, I was just being positive and writing what I wanted in a book. Some things came to life."

Moore's positivity and dedication paid off when he was given the role of Miles Morales. Spider-fans will get to see Moore in his dream role when Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse comes to theaters in the US on December 14.
