Spider-Man: Homecoming Star Celebrates End of Filming With a Sleepy Photo-April 2024
Apr 4, 2025 9:01 AM

Filming has wrapped on 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, lead actor Tom Holland has revealed.

Holland marked the occasion by releasing the picture below of some of the cast and crew sleeping on a plane, tuckered out from the shoot, apparently. "Our last day on Spider-Man: Homecoming and this how we are feeling but we got this hahah," Holland wrote in his Instagram caption for the picture.

Production began in June and two major filming sites included Atlanta and Queens, which is where Holland recently shared a photo of himself in the Spidey suit. Some action shots of Holland in the Spider-Man suit from New York also emerged last week and can be seen here.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017. Though filming has wrapped, there is always the possibility of re-shoots. We're also assuming there is a good amount of CG work to be done.

The film is directed by Jon Watts, who also made the Kevin Bacon movie Cop Car.

In September, the first images of the villainous Shocker were released. Although the face of the actor was not revealed, it has been rumored that Fargo star Bokeem Woodbine would play the character.

In other news, a recent report claimed teen star Zendaya will be portraying Peter Parker's love interest, Mary-Jane Watson. It is believed Michael Keaton is also on-board to play a villain.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first standalone Spidey movie from Marvel Studios, following a co-production deal with Sony Pictures. It also stars Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, and Tyne Daly.

In Spider-Man gaming news, Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac is making a Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4, though it remains to be seen if it will be released alongside the movie next year.
