Traditionally squaring combatants off mano-a-mano in the fighting arena, the Soulcalibur series is in for a drastic overhaul with its upcoming Nintendo Wii-exclusive spin-off, Soulcalibur Legends. Today, Namco Bandai announced that development has wrapped on the third-person action-adventure and gamers will be able to get a firsthand look at the changes come November 20.
Soulcalibur Legends is set between the events of the original Soul Blade for the PlayStation and its sequel, Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. The third-person hack-and-slash action follows knight-in-shining-armor Siegfried as he quests to piece together the Soul Edge, better known as the epic-size sword that he's come to be associated with. Numerous other characters from the franchise turn up in the game, including the sultry dominatrix Ivy and the bushido-blade-wielding Mitsurugi.
As would be expected from a Wii-exclusive title, Soulcalibur Legends will take advantage of the Wii's much-vaunted motion-sensing controls. In addition to a single-player campaign, the game features split-screen co-op and competitive modes. Not abandoning the fighting genre entirely, the game also includes a versus mode.
